Scouts & Cubs
St. Xavier's Collegiate School (Loyola Scout Group) is open to boys of all classes. The Group consists of a Cub Pack and Scout Troop registered with The Bharat Scouts and Guides. After a long gap the SXCS Scout Troop has been re-started with the blessing of the Headmaster and Prefects of the school.
The cubs - Ishan Dutta, Sarbajit Choudhuri and Trijeet Gomes represented our fledgling SXCS Cub Pack in the District Cub Bulbul Quiz Competition of the First Calcutta District. SXCS Cubs attended the District All Faith's Prayer Meeting in reverence to Mother Teresa's death anniversary, thereafter they also participated in a Sit-N-Draw Competition. The District Examiners also visited the SXCS to test the cubs for the Totem Pole Competition. They were greatly impressed by the handicraft items that were prepared by the members of the new pack.
The 1st Pravesh training camp for cubs was held in the SXCS (Primary) on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Rabindra Nath Tagore, the Group had also organised a Sit-N-Draw Competition and the Investiture Ceremony of the cubs was held at SXCS (Primary). The programme started with cub prayer. Rev. Fr. Jerome Francis, S.J., Headmaster, Rev. Fr. Sebastian James, S.J., Prefect High School and Ms. M. Chatelier, Prefect Primary School were present at this ceremony. Mr. Bishnu Prasad Jaiswal, Cubmaster of SXCS invested 14 Cubs. Rev. Fr. Jerome Francis, S.J. handed over the scarf to the newly invested cubs. After the Investiture Ceremony the prizes were distributed to the participants of the Sit-N-Draw competition. SXCS cubs had a Day Hike and participated in a Nature Study programme. Mr. Bishnu Prasad Jaiswal, Cubmaster, awarded the Pratham Charan Badge to the Cubs who successfully completed all the requirements of the level.

The St. Xavier's Scout troop was originally formed in 1922.
In 1922 St. Xavier's Troop has so far all the best swimmers, possessing in their senior patrol leader kouruktchy, the best among the scout.
In 14.03.1922 Mr. Ribbins becomes Asstt. Scout master.
In 18.03.1922 Scout Sports held at Dallunda house. St. Xavier's were second to La Martiniere, The St. Xavier's Scout troop was originally formed in 1928.
It was renamed in 1966 as the "Loyola Scout Troop"

The St. Xavier's Collegiate School Scout Group comprises of a Cub Pack and Scout Troop. Started a key role in propagating Scouting and ideas of Universal Brotherhood in Eastern India's prestigious past, among all Scouting Units that from First Calcutta District Association.
After a break of a decade, Scouting returned to the school in the year 2007. The first meeting of the Cub Pack was held on the Feast of St. Aloysius Gonzaga on 21st June 2007 under the leadership of Cubmaster Mr. Bishnu Prasad Jaiswal.
1st Cubs Pravesh Training Camp held at St. Xavier's School (Primary), from 3rd to 4th May, 2008
SXCS Cub Pack has its Pravesh training camp on 3rd & 4th May, 2008. 17 Cubs participated in the camp. The cubs learned all the subjects of Pravesh level. Mr. Errol M. Colaco, District Secretary, Mr. Bishnu Prasad Jaiswal, Cubmaster of SXCS. The leaders tried their best and maintained a strict schedule during the two days.
On Day 1: The most exciting topic was campfire. Before the campfire, boys were taught the procedure of the campfire, a combination of entertainment and teamwork.
On Day 2: The schedule was a little more hectic. The day started with a warm-up session of exercises to keep the body fit. The cubs Pravesh training camp ended with the National Anthem.
1st RABINDRA JAYANTI AND 1st SIT & DRAW COMPETITION held at St. Xavier's School (Primary), 8th May, 2008
For the first time in the St. Xavier's School history of Cubs had Rabindra Jayanti & Sit & Draw Competition for the school boys & cubs was held at the Primary school premises on 8th May, 2008 under the cubmaster. Around 100 school boys & cubs took part in competition.

SXCS Cub Pack has its Over Night camp on 14th & 15th May, 2008. 17 Cubs participated in the camp. Inauguration of Investiture Ceremony for Cubs: The Headmaster of SXCS, Rev. Fr. Jerome Francis, S.J. had attended the function as Chief Guest. The Prefect of SXCS, Rev. Fr. Sebastian James, S.J. and The Prefect of SXCS(Primary), Ms. C. Chatelier were also present. The Primary school Cubs of SXCS gave a performance which was well appreciated by the audience. The Cubs also drew applause with their cultural performance. Subsequent to the inaugural programme, beautiful gifts were handed over to Rev. Fr. Jerome Francis, Rev. Fr. Sebastian James and Ms. Chatelier. We also felicitated Cubmaster, Scoutmasters of SXCS and some Cubs & School boys. A very big thank you to all the Cubs who had worked tirelessly alongside us to organize the arrangements for the investiture ceremony.

First Calcutta District Totem Pole Competition:
The Totem Pole Competition for Cubs was start with den inspections from 1st to 13th November' 08 by the team of examiners and the competition ended with a final rally at St. James' School on 16th November'08. The eight participating Packs were St. Joseph's College Pack, St. James' School Packs - AB&C, St. Xavier's Collegiate School Pack, SPCI Pack, Don Bosco School Pack - A&B. Mr. N. Wadia, District Commissioner(S) inaugurated the competition and blessed the Cubs and Mr. E. Colaco, District Secretary welcomed the guest and the participants. The Competition based on Cub Greetings, Jungle Dance, Handicraft, Pack Records Uniform ect. Mr. N. Wadia, DC (S), handed over the winning and runner-up trophies and standard judging certificates to the winners SPCI, the 1st Runner - up St. Joseph's College Pack and 2nd Runner -up St. James' School Pack C. Ms Khorshed Avari DOC (G) and Mrs. Makki Ghiara also present during the prize distribution ceremony. Mr. Darshan Singh Gill, District Headquarter Commissioner(C) of South Calcutta, Ms. Sreema Mukherjee, ACM of South Calcutta and Ms. Priyanka Chakraborty, Custodian of First Calcutta were the examiners at the final rally and Mr. Bishnu Prasad Jaiswal, District Headquarter Commissioner(C), Ms. Gulnar Bulsara, CM of SPCI and Mrs. Sagarika Guha, District Training Councillor( C ) were the examiners at the Den Inspection. Ms. Vandana Budhraja acted as tabulator of the Totem Pole Competition 2008. The event ended with National Anthem.
CUBS OUTING / PICNIC - 1, 2009 (SXCS to BIRLAPUR) :
On March 1, 2009, SXCS Cub Pack & Parents went on a picnic to Birlapur. It was a beautiful spot beside cannel, pond and river. It is a nice place for picnic. It is at the confluence of two rivers at picnic spot. We went there by bus with necessary things. On the day, we started well before morning and reached the picnic spot at about 10am. Then we had our breakfast and the elders began cooking food. We went to play cricket, football and badminton & enjoy the game run by Mr. Rajendra Kumar Das . We went to the riverside to enjoy the beauties of the rivers. There were many picnic parties on the occasion there. It was a new experience for me. We then had our midday meal on banana leaves. The men in the lunch consisted of many delicious food items and we all ate to our hearts' content. After the meal we spent our time lying, listening to songs and music and gossiping. It was a great enjoyment to all of us. We left the place after sunset. Thus we had a pleasant picnic on the day. The Cubmaster give to all Cubs and Parents a gift. The Birlapur ended with a Group Photograph of the Cubs, Parents and Leaders. We then returned home with a very happy mind.
CUBS & SCOUTS TRAINING CAMP:
St. Xavier's Collegiate School Cubs Pack has its over night camp on March 28 & 29, 2009, 17 Cubs participated in the camp. The Cubs learned all the subjects of Pravesh, Pratham Charan and Dwitiya Charan level. District Secretary of First Calcutta Mr. Errol Colaco, Cubmaster of SXCS Mr. Bishnu Jaiswal, Assistant Scoutmaster of SXCS Mr. Md. Safi Shamsi and Scoutmaster of SXCS Mr. Rajendra Kumar Das taught the different subjects to the Cubs. The Leaders tried their best and maintained a strict schedule during the two days.

Investiture Ceremony for Cubs:
The Investiture Ceremony held on March 29, 2009 at 10.30 a.m. Rev. Fr. Sebastian James, S.J. , Vice Principal Of SXCS graced the occasion to encourage the boys in becoming a part of the Movement. The Ceremony began with the Cub Prayer. Seven Cubs were Invested by the Cubmaster individually. The boys took their oath. The Cubmaster presented the Cap, Cub Progress Card and other items and Rev. Fr. Sebastian James, S.J., Vice Principal Of SXCS presented the Group Scarf. The Ceremony ended with a Group Photograph of the newly Invested boys and Leaders. The Investiture Ceremony ended with the National Anthem.
Tritiya Charan and Chaturtha Charan Training Camp
The Tritiya Charan and Chaturtha Charan Training Camp for Cub were held at St. Joseph's College, Don Bosco and SPCI were participated. Mr. Errol Colaco, District Secretary, officially inaugurated the training camp on 14th March 2009. Mr. Errol Colaco, District Secretary, Mr. Biswajit Banerjee District Training Commissioner of South Calcutta, Mrs. Gulnar Mehta, Ms. Angela Madeiara, Ms. Caroline Osbourne, Mr. Daniel Banerjee, Mrs. Frenaz Mogrelia, Mrs. Sagarika Guha District Training Commissioner (C), Bishnu Prasad Jaiswal, District Headquarter Commissioner(C) and Mr. Rajendra Kr. Das, DOC (S) taught the different subjects to the Cubs. On 15th March 2009 Cubs took part in testing meet. Mr. Noshir Wadia, District Commissioner(S) handed over the participation certificates to the Cubs and blessed the Cubs. The event ended with National Anthem.
The Heming Johnson Cup Sports for Cubs
The Heming Johnson Cup Sports for Cubs was held by king permission of the Headmaster of the School, at St. Xavier's Collegiate School (Primary) on 29th March 2009, in the presence of a large number of Cubs from St. Joseph's College Pack, St. James' School Pack AB&C, St. Xavier's Collegiate School Pack, SPCI Pack and Don Bosco School Pack A&C. The SPCI Pack won the 1st position, the 1st runners-up St. Xavier's Collegiate School and 2nd runners-up St. Joseph's College. Mr. Noshir Wadia, District Commissioner(S) handed over the winning trophy. Mr. Errol Colaco, District Secretary delivered the vote of thanks and event ended with National Anthem.
The Dwitiya Charan Training Camp for Cubs and Dwitiya Sopan Training Camp for Scouts
The Dwitiya Charan Training Camp for Cubs and Dwitiya Sopan Training Camp for Scouts held at St. Joseph's College on 18th & 19th April 2009. Altogether 8 Cubs & 8 Scouts participated in the Training Camp. The Cubs and Scouts learnt all the subjects of Dwitiya Charan and Dwitiya Sopan level. Mr. Errol Colaco, District Secretary, Mrs. Sagarika Guha, Mr. Bishnu Jaiswal, Mr. Nauzer Batlivala, Mr. Shorab Balsara and Mr. Rajendra Das DOC(S) taught different subjects to the Cubs and Scouts took park in testing meet and the camp ended with the National Anthem.
